For customers

Is LoveYourLocal free?

Yes. It’s free for customers, always. Businesses pay a monthly fee to run their card.

How do I earn points?

Tap your phone on the LoveYourLocal card at the counter after you pay. Each visit earns 10 points, at every business on LoveYourLocal.

Do I have to join each business?

No. Your first tap at a new place is how you join it. There’s no form and nothing to search for.

Can I spend points from one business at another?

No. Points are spent where you earned them, because each business pays for the rewards it gives. If a business has several locations, your card works at all of them.

Two shops have the same name. Why are my points separate?

Shops under the same name are often run by different owners. Each owner runs their own card, and the app shows you which shops your points are good at.

Why didn’t my second tap count?

There’s a daily limit on visits, so tapping again straight away doesn’t earn more. It keeps rewards affordable for the business, which is what keeps them on offer.

Do my points expire?

Only if you stop visiting for a long time: six months for everyday places, twelve for places you visit now and then. We’ll warn you a month before. A business can give you longer, but never shorter.

What are levels?

Visit often and you move up a level, which can unlock deals for regulars. Your level is based on points earned in the last twelve months, and spending points never lowers it.

Do I need an account?

You can start collecting as soon as you open the app. You’ll be asked to sign in with Apple, Google or your email before you spend points, so a lost phone never means lost points.

What can a business see about me?

A nickname you choose, your visits, your level and the rewards you’ve taken. Never your phone number or email address. More on what they see.

How do I delete my account?

From the app’s settings, or by following the steps on this page.

For businesses

What does it cost?

£9.99, £19.99 or £29.99 a month per location, including VAT, depending on the plan. The first month is free. See the plans.

Do I pay anything to start?

No. Run it free for a month. At the end we show you the month’s figures, and if you want to carry on you subscribe on loveyourlocal.app. The app never asks you to pay.

How do I cancel?

Any time, from the link in your billing email or by emailing us. Your plan runs to the end of the month you paid for. More on billing.

Do I need to change my till?

No. The tap card sits on your counter and works on its own. If you’d like your till connected later, that’s on the Complete plan.

How long does setup take?

About ten minutes on your phone. We post your tap card, and you stick it by the till.

Can I decide how many points a reward costs?

Yes. Every visit earns 10 points, the same everywhere, but you set the points price of each reward. The form shows what it costs you as a share of your takings.

Can staff hand out double points?

Yes, if you allow it. You choose which staff can offer it, the customer sees it on their card, and it lapses after a few weeks.

Can someone copy the card and farm points?

No. Each tap is signed by a secure chip and counts once, so a photo or a copied link earns nothing. Visits are also capped each day.

Will I get my customers’ phone numbers?

No, on any plan. You see their chosen nickname, visits, level and rewards, and you can message them in the app. Customers join far more readily when they aren’t asked for a number.

I have more than one location. How does that work?

Your customers’ card belongs to your business, so they can earn at one counter and spend at another. Each location has its own tap card and its own plan.

What happens if I stop paying?

Your account freezes. Nothing is deleted: customers, visits and balances stay, and offers pause until you subscribe again.

I already run a loyalty scheme. Can I move it over?

Yes. Upload the balances you have and your regulars carry on from where they were.

I lost my tap card.

Email [email protected] and we’ll switch off the old one and post a replacement.
